In today’s world, finding moments of silence can be a rare luxury. Here at Outpost, we understand the value of peacefulness and the profound impact it can have on our well-being. That’s why we’re thrilled to introduce the concept of silent travel- a way to experience the beauty of the Tetons through activities that encourage peace, mindfulness, and a deep connection to nature.
Silent travel is all about engaging with our surroundings on a more intimate level, allowing the stillness of nature to be our guide. Here are some ways to immerse yourself in silent travel with us this summer:
Silent Hikes
Jackson Hole and Grand Teton National Park is full of trails to explore. While it’s always safer to hike with a friend, challenge yourself to turn off the phones and take a silent hike. If this isn’t in the cards for you, try taking a break for some meditation. Whatever it is, let yourself be quiet and listen to the nature and wildlife that surrounds you.
Yoga in Nature
We love our yoga here and luckily there are so many options to get into your zen. Inversion Yoga offers in-studio classes daily and rooftop classes on Sundays in the summertime. Jackson Hole Mountain Resort also offers a unique experience to participate in a class on top of the Bridger Gondola encapsulated by the Tetons and stunning views of Jackson Hole.
Spa Day
Treat yourself to a spa day on your vacation. Jackson Hole offers plenty of options in all price ranges. A local favorite is the newly open Grand View Spa, just steps away from our Snow King Mountain rental units. They offer a variety of treatments in addition to access to a sauna, steam room, salt room, and hot tub. More options in Teton Village are the Hotel Terra Chill Spa and the Four Seasons Spa, both of which offer similar amenities and time to relax.
Hot Springs
Astoria Hot Springs is a fantastic option for some chill time out in nature. Located just 20 minutes south of town, Astoria offers six man-made pools filled with thermal waters sitting right next to the Snake River. Enjoy a relaxing experience while surrounded by the sounds of river flows.
Lake Relaxation
Our valley offers an array of beautiful alpine lakes to discover. Some relaxing activities would be to rent a stand-up paddleboard or kayak to cruise along and embrace the stillness around you. Make sure to listen for elk bugling!
Scenic Float
If white water isn’t your thing, a scenic float down the Snake would be a great option for quiet travel. There are plenty of rafting companies to choose from offering full or half days to chill on the river and view wildlife like bald eagles, otters, beavers, and sometimes even moose.
Star Gazing
A simple yet mindful activity to relax before you wind down for the night. We are lucky to be located in the mountains away from light pollution and have a gorgeous view of the night sky. Participate by yourself, or take a stargazing tour with Wyoming Stargazing.
Jackson Hole provides an array of opportunities for those looking to explore the quiet side of life through silent travel. It’s all about the presence of peace, the kind that allows you to listen more closely to the world around you and to yourself.
Embrace silence and discover the power of quiet travel in Jackson Hole, where the beauty of the Tetons speaks volumes without saying a word.
